PROMPT:  What's up with my body?

Ellen Stader, dancer/choreographer/writer

Brain, a gray blob, paces on stage.  Willie, Brain’s penis, lies haphazardly on stage.
BRAIN
Willie, I’m talking to you!
WILLIE
(rolling over listlessly)
Sure.
BRAIN
I’m talking to you!
WILLIE
(bored)
Yea.
Brain goes and stands over Willie and shouts.
BRAIN
(shouting)
I’m talking to you!
Willie sits up.
WILLIE
So talk.
BRAIN
What’s happened to you?!
WILLIE
I’m old, man.  We’re old.
BRAIN
I know we’re old!
Silence.
BRAIN
What happened?  We used to be so close.  We talked every day.
WILLIE
I’m tired, man.  That was a long, long time ago.
BRAIN
I’m tired too.
Silence.
BRAIN
Did you see that girl that walked by a few minutes ago?
WILLIE
I saw her.
BRAIN
She was beautiful.
WILLIE
You mean she had big breasts.
BRAIN
No, I don’t mean she had big breasts.
WILLIE
She had big breasts.
BRAIN
I know she had big breasts!  But she was also strong, broad shoulders, power arms and thighs and there was... a light in her eyes.  She must have been an athlete.
WILLIE
(listlessly)
She had big breasts.
BRAIN
You have a one track mind.
WILLIE
Only just barely, and you used to think that was a good thing.
BRAIN
I never thought that was a good thing.
WILLIE
Well, you used to at least notice and appreciate.
Silence.
BRAIN
Too many daughters.  I can’t help but think about them, and No! Not like that!  I can’t help but think that that young lady is someone’s daughter.  That someone loves her and has dreams and hopes for her.
Silence.
WILLIE
It got complicated, didn’t it?
Silence.
BRAIN
It was always complicated.
Silence.
WILLIE
I’m tired.
BRAIN
One of the few benefits of growing old.
WILLIE
What’s that?
BRAIN
Easier to see the light in the young woman eyes.
WILLIE
I just wish it was easier to pee.
BRAIN
Amen to that brother.  Amen to that...
End of play.
