ScriptWorks 30/60/90 - 25 August 2013

Prompt:
She expresses joy in a really unusual way!-David Copelin, playwright/dramaturg/translator

Response:

BEATRICE, 43, smiling, stands in line at the bank with a check and a deposit slip.
Her turn comes and she steps up to the teller, KATE, 22, and hands her the check and deposit slip.
Kate looks at the check and deposit slip.  She turns the check over.

KATE
You need to endorse it.

BEATRICE
(giggles slightly)
Oh, sorry.

Beatrice takes the check from Kate and picks up the pen Kate hands her.  Beatrice looks at the check for a moment, smiles, and then with a fierce, large scrawl writes her name across the back of the entire check, holds the pen high over her head and spikes it onto the counter in front of the surprised Kate and lets out an audible “Uhhh!” of triumph.  Beatrice gives her best strong man poses.
After a moment, Beatrice returns to the sedate woman she normally is and slowly slides the check back to the shocked Kate.

KATE
Ah... thanks.

BEATRICE
(smiling prettily)
Your welcome.

Kate turns back to her computer.  With a little glance at Beatrice, she enters the transaction.  Timidly, Kate slides the deposit receipt to Beatrice.
Beatrice takes the slip from Kate.

BEATRICE
Thanks.

Beatrice exits doing a little happy dance as Kate watches stunned.
Curtain.
